Working hand in hand – The Yacht Sale and Purchase Process at Moravia Yachting

By Moravia Yachting

When the owners of a 30m Sanlorenzo met with Moravia’s Alessandro Diomedi at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show, they weren’t quite sure what kind of boat they needed.

“It was not a question of size, but of style,” explains Alessandro, who helped these owners understand how a change of boat could better meet their change of lifestyle.

“There is a huge difference between a planing yacht and a full displacement vessel,” says Alessandro. “It is all too often simplified by the marketplace as a change from fast to slow, but it can also mean a reduced fuel burn and more time to enjoy life on the water.” The owners had recently found that rather than making fast-paced passages between coastal hotspots, they were preferring to sail at night and sleep peacefully whilst the yacht was repositioned, and they awoke with a new vista.

When one no longer has to keep up with the pace of modern life, actively choosing to take a more leisurely approach can afford huge pleasures. “It’s true, who wants to keep racing around the world forever?!” laughs Alessandro, “I can fully appreciate the desire to slow down and linger for a little longer before you venture to the next bay.”

“I learnt that whilst these owners cruise the Med three to four months of the year, they enjoy just as much to spend time aboard with family and friends close to their home port.” Alessandro goes on to explain, “With a bigger yacht, those short day-long excursions stop being quite so stress free and this became a huge factor in our considerations.”

With the Sanlorenzo on the market – listed for sale with Alessandro – the owners began to peruse the brokerage listings with more earnest interest.

“A few months had gone by and our initial sales marketing for the Sanlorenzo had failed to bring a buyer,” tells Alessandro. “Knowing the yacht was going to take a little longer to sell, we started to review the many semi-custom series offered by the big names in yachting.” Inspired by the potential this arrangement afforded them, the owners homed in on a Navetta 33 from Custom Line which was under construction and available for a summer delivery.

“The Navetta 33 has classic lines, plenty of space, and perhaps offers more onboard privacy than something like the Benetti Oasis, which has a very open stern design,” explains Alessandro. “But now the pressure was on. Not only did I have to get the Sanlorenzo sold to help facilitate this new adventure, I also wanted to make sure the owners’ interests were respected every step of the way and that Custom Line would support them in bringing their own style to this project – without finding themselves caught up in complications or delays.”

Finally Moravia’s marketing efforts bared fruit, and within 12 months the Sanlorenzo was sold, and at a good price. The sale was concluded and the new purchase secured, all within a two-week timeframe back in November 2024.

“When we decided to sell our previous 30m yacht, we chose to work with Alessandro Diomedi at Moravia Yachting. During this process, Alessandro learnt of our yachting ambitions, he understood how we had hoped to use the yacht, the style and space we sought, and helped us to identify the kind of yacht that might best suit us next. Alessandro’s market knowledge and expertise led us to the Navetta 33 from Custom Line. With the sale of our yacht concluded, we were able to move forwards. Six months later, we are delighted to have taken delivery of our new boat and thank Alessandro for his diligent care and guidance. To have him as our one point of contact has made everything happen so quickly and smoothly.”

The delivery party for the Navetta took place in April, and the owners look forward to setting sail in July.
