Moravia Yachting’s Lea Tintaud Abbas was recently invited on board the 60m motor yacht FORMOSA for a four-day familiarisation trip in Mexico. Beginning in La Paz and culminating in Cabo San Lucas, the itinerary showcased what the region has to offer as a charter destination, as well as the unique experience that FORMOSA and her crew offer to guests.
The first day took the guests an hour north of La Paz to Balandra Bay – known for its pristine white-sand beaches and mountainous landscape. Balandra Beach is a favourite among locals as its calm, crystal-clear waters are shallow and perfect for swimming. With plentiful wildlife in this protected area, a particular highlight for Lea was swimming with the playful resident sea lions.
The next day, FORMOSA and her guests sailed to Isla Partida, a UNESCO-protected island on the beautiful Baja peninsula. Separated from Isla Espiritu Santo by a narrow blue channel, it’s even possible to wade between both islands when the tide is right. Isla Partida is home to the Ensenada Grande, renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico.
The itinerary also encompassed an anchorage in the uninhabited Isla San Francisco and a visit to the buzzing city of Cabo San Lucas. What made the charter extra special, however, were FORMOSA’s amenities and professional crew. “FORMOSA has a great selection of toys and the resourceful crew surprised us with many activities to discover the area,” says Lea. This included a trip on the yacht’s 26m fishing boat, which can be chartered in addition to FORMOSA for a special sportfishing experience.
Another standout feature of a charter on board FORMOSA is her two chefs. “One chef is from near Bilbao and the other is from New Zealand – the mixture of influences in the galley creates some spectacular food,” adds Lea.
