Large capacity yacht charters
A handful of charter yachts can accommodate more than the typical limit of 12 guests, such as M/Y DREAM.
Due to maritime legislation, the majority of luxury charter yachts can legally accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. While this can be a frustration for large circles of friends or extended families, there are a few different options available for larger groups looking to share the experience of a yacht charter together.
Firstly, it’s worth noting that personnel not considered as guests, such as security guards or nannies, can be classed as ‘supernumeraries’ and won’t count towards the 12-guest limit. For large groups of guests, it’s possible to book multiple yachts and carry out the charters in tandem.
The best way to ensure large groups have a quality holiday together, however, is to charter one of a handful of charter yachts on the market that are classed as passenger vessels and thereby licensed to carry over 12 guests.
The best way to ensure large groups have a quality holiday together, however, is to charter one of a handful of charter yachts on the market that are classed as passenger vessels and thereby licensed to carry over 12 guests. Part of the Hill Robinson charter fleet, the 106.5m DREAM is one such yacht.
DREAM is a converted cruise ship that can accommodate up to 36 guests across 22 suites. “DREAM’s owners wanted to build their family’s ‘dream’ yacht and spent 10 years refitting the commercial vessel to be just that,” explains Nicolas Fry, Head of Charter Management at Hill Robinson. “The quality of the build and the finishes is amazing.”
DREAM’s ability to accommodate 36 guests, combined with her large volume, make her unique to the charter market. Her extensive amenities, including a spa, cinema room, library and playroom, make her the ideal charter yacht for a multi-generational family.
Despite her size, the interior is designed so that there are many cosy and private areas. “There is a large main dining room for 36-plus guests, in addition to more intimate dining spaces,” adds Nicolas. “The main saloon is also segregated into intimate areas for drinking cocktails or playing chess.”
One curiosity on board is the ability to open the windows in every guest cabin – a feature that the owners insisted upon because of their love of fresh air, despite the classification and insurance complications. As such, guests can choose between air conditioning or a fresh sea breeze in their cabins.
DREAM is available to charter in the Mediterranean from €2,000,000 per week. To enquire about DREAM, or any other charter yachts with capacity for over 12 guests, please contact the Moravia Yachting brokerage team here.
