About
Originally conceived for offshore operations in cold climes, today, she is one of the world’s largest support yachts—ice-classed, DP1 certified, and remarkably self-sufficient.
Her 21-metre D-value helideck is fully certified up to 12.9 tonnes, complete with refuelling facilities for both JET A1 and gasoline via bespoke IMENCO systems. She carries 350m3 of marine gas oil (MGO), 9,000L of JET A1, and 9,000L of tender gasoline.
Thanks to her DP1 dynamic positioning system, she can operate independently for up to 45 days in Dynamic Positioning (DP) mode. This system enables SKY to hold station automatically without anchoring, making her ideal for heliops, tender deployment, or submersible exploration–and allowing her to enter protected areas where anchors aren’t permitted. A retractable azipod offers agile manoeuvrability in confined waters and reduces fuel consumption during positioning operations.
With an SPS 50 classification, SKY is permitted to host up to 50 specialist personnel—such as helicopter pilots, expedition staff, or researchers—in addition to her core crew. She also offers a dedicated medical suite, ensuring the onboard health and safety for those aboard SKY and her mothership. This, combined with expansive deck stowage, cold room capacity, and heavy-lift cranes positions her as a mission-critical support platform for superyachts operating in remote or logistically complex environments.
Following a series of meticulous refits, SKY is in excellent condition. Her recent upgrades span bridge navigation systems, accommodation, deck equipment, and auxiliary systems, all executed to commercial standards under comprehensive management by Hill Robinson.
SKY is perfectly suited to owners or operators requiring a reliable, versatile support vessel capable of sustaining complex operations in remote and extreme environments.
