Broker Spotlight – Tim Carbury

By Moravia Yachting

As part of a series of conversations with the brokerage team, Tim discusses his career to date, as well as his aspirations for his future at Moravia Yachting.

An avid sailor since childhood, Tim began working in the yachting industry in 2014 in an operational yacht management role. After a couple of years, he decided to become a captain himself to gain some more hands-on experience and develop his career in yacht management. Tim’s professional development took an unexpected turn, however, when he was offered employment as a sales broker at an established brokerage house in Mallorca.

“Brokerage wasn’t something I actively pursued as a career path, but I quickly became hooked,” Tim explains. “I found myself enjoying meeting people, signing listings and that adrenaline rush that comes from an inquiry from a buyer or a lead for a listing.”

Having been busy representing both buyers and sellers across the motoryacht and sailing yacht fleet since 2017, Tim’s personable and trustworthy approach has proved effective in achieving the best outcomes for his clients. A particular highlight during this time was working as the joint central agent for the 60-metre Perini Navi PERSEUS^3, which culminated in a successful sale.

“PERSEUS^3 was a really exciting listing to be involved with,” reflects Tim. “As a very large sloop, she was a unique sailing yacht and impressive for photo shoots. We were also able to take advantage of the significant amount of exposure that came with her regular participation in St Barths Bucket and other regattas.”

Joining Moravia Yachting in 2023, Tim quickly became a valuable addition to the brokerage team based in Palma de Mallorca. “As a growing company, Moravia Yachting presented an opportunity to have a real impact on the business development – I saw it as a challenge,” he comments. “My goal is to help give the brand more presence and exposure, with more listings and visibility at boat shows.”

With the strong backing of the Hill Robinson Group, Tim is positive about the direction that the company is heading. “Hill Robinson is really behind us as a sales team, as well as being very proactive in supporting the industry through its sponsorship of regattas and other events,” he concludes. “There’s a lot of ambition for the future, which is exciting to be a part of.”
