M/Y ZEUS I for sale

Charter Broker Lea Tintaud assesses the purchase potential of ZEUS I, listed for sale with Moravia Yachting.

One of the highly successful Mangusta 165 series from Overmarine shipyard, featuring exterior design by Stefano Righini, the 49.91-metre ZEUS I was launched in 2009. Having only ever been used privately, the motor yacht is offered for sale in fantastic condition with an asking price €12,800,000 and VAT paid status.

Having visited ZEUS I, Charter Broker Lea Tintaud sees her as an extremely interesting purchase proposition with great charter potential. “Mainly privately used, she has not seen heavy charter activity and has low engine hours,” Lea explains. “As she is MCA compliant, it would be very easy to convert her into charter mode and offset the operational costs. Being VAT paid, however, also makes her a great option for an owner wishing to keep her private.”

To give an idea of the potential charter income ZEUS I could generate, Lea points to similar vessels on the market. “There are currently three Mangusta 165s on the charter market available for between €250-270k a week, with an average occupancy of 11 weeks of charter per year,” she adds. “ZEUS I is a slightly older model, so I would estimate net €1.8million in charter revenue per year – this estimate is erring on the side of caution and taking into account the negotiation variable.”

Since ZEUS I has never been refitted and has interiors very personal to the owner’s taste, Lea would suggest that a new owner considers an interior refresh to be able to maximise its potential on the charter market and increase the rate closer to the newer versions advertised in the Mediterranean and Bahamas.

As well as being one of the largest open boats ever built, ZEUS I combines comfort, speed, and style. What Lea believes makes her truly stand out, however, is her versatile exterior layout; “The large sun loungers on the bow and the aft deck disguise two heated Jacuzzis forward and aft, so you can change the vibe on board according to your mood.”

There is also a diving board towards the bow and the swim platform offers a place to have casual lunches and dinners. The interior features five cabins, a private office, cinema room and TVs in all the ensuite bathrooms (sometimes two!) – all the amenities a great host would dream of. ZEUS I is ideal for family gatherings, cruising quickly from place to place, and enjoying anchorages in the utmost luxury.
