Destination focus: Ibiza
Charter Broker Lisa Christensen reveals why Ibiza is one of her favourite charter destinations and gives her personal recommendations for an itinerary in the region.
While renowned as a party-hard island, Ibiza has another side to it that offers tranquillity and relaxation. For this reason, Charter Broker Lisa Christensen recommends it as a superyacht charter destination to a wide scope of clientele. “Both family and friends will enjoy Ibiza – it caters to both,” she explains. “Guests can experience the island’s quiet and secluded beaches and bays or get involved with its dynamic party scene.”

With summer temperatures arriving as early as May and lasting through to early October, Ibiza offers a more reliable and longer charter season than many other cruising regions in the Mediterranean. And with no Mistral wind, sailing around Ibiza is mostly easy and comfortable. For Lisa, this means more opportunity for clients to enjoy all that the destination has to offer.
For such a small island, Ibiza offers plenty of picturesque beaches and sheltered anchorages for charming fishing boats and superyachts alike – Lisa’s personal recommendations include Cala Comte, Cala Tarida, Cala Vadella and Cala d’Hort. “In front of Cala d’Hort is the amazing islet of Es Vedra – anchoring here for sunset is mandatory for anyone chartering in Ibiza,” Lisa adds.
“Sailing in the direction Formentera, the bay of Cala Jondal is another must-visit anchorage where you will find the amazing fish restaurant Es Xarcu and the famous beach club Blue Marlin. Casa Jondal is one of the best restaurants on the beach.”
With the rustic simplicity and turquoise waters of Formentera a short hop away, a trip here should feature on every Ibiza itinerary. “Anchor at S’Espalmador and discover the charming harbour of Formentera with its rustic restaurants and beautiful shops,” advises Lisa. “Sail around the island to the amazing beach Cala Saona, home to the Chacala restaurant.”
